Slippery Slope

I have found myself on a slippery slope today. Quite literally.

My map led me to a tiny path that disappeared on me in the middle of a hill. The terrain was quite steep but I didn't notice it until it was too late. I was so busy staring at the map that I haven’t even realized that I am no longer walking on a path but on a very loose pile of stones.

I put my map down to take a look around me and almost slipped down the hill. It was a precarious situation but I calmed myself down with a thought that if I could walk on it while not paying attention I am going to be completely fine if I am going to be careful.

The stones gave out under my weight as I tried to get back on a stable ground and they brought me down with them. We were tumbling down as an avalanche and when I finally realized that the stones stopped they buried me under their weight.

They are so heavy that I can’t even shout for help and this will be my resting place until some other poor sod finds themselves too preoccupied to pay attention to what is under their feet.
